Protect Yourself from Fraud Lock
Identity theft and phishing scams remain as two tremendous threats to your financial information, reputation, and credit history. CWCU is committed to protecting our members from fraud, but despite all of our efforts, we encourage all members to take an active role in protecting your confidential information.

Watch out for the following types of scams:
• Phishing – In this case, criminals send fraudulent e-mails asking recipients to verify account numbers and passwords. DO NOT CLICK ON LINKS TO A WEB SITE INCLUDED IN E-MAIL ADDRESSES. Instead, type the legitimate web site address of the company you are contacting into your web browser.

• Vishing – Criminals are beginning to call unknowing victims and asking them to verify personal information over the phone. Never provide your personal information over the phone, UNLESS YOU HAVE INITIATED THE CALL. Legitimate companies will NEVER CALL YOU asking for account numbers or passwords.

• Smishing – Fraudsters are even using cell phone text messages asking people to call a phone number and provide personal information. DO NOT RESPOND TO OR CALL NUMBERS included in cell phone text messages.
